About us
Like anyone spending a lot of time researching for a breed, we hoped that we would find something which could be suitable for the family environment, especially with young children.
Eventually the family agreed that the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel had it all, the looks, the temperament and its long standing reputation in being suitable for a perfect family pet. In our eyes we had found the ideal breed which was perfect for our lifestyle.
We made lots of enquiries and after many months of waiting we acquired our first Cavalier back in 2001.
Her pet name was 'Lady', a name that suited her through and through, she was a pure black & tan
Cavalier, just like the ones you see in all the old paintings. Our research had paid off, Lady was just what we expected, she was fantastic with our two young children.
When Lady was two we decided that we would like to breed her. Arranging this was a little more difficult than we first
expected, after all we were inexperienced in this area and needed guidance. We assumed it was going to be easy to find a suitable stud dog, however it became apparent this wasn't to be the case.
Our first port of call
was to ask the breeder where we bought Lady from, we had no luck there. After numerous calls and research we did eventually stumble across someone who was highly regarded
within the Cavalier scene and who knew what they was talking about.
Eventually after several lengthy phone calls and much reassurance from the breeder we decided to arrange a visit to meet the stud dog. He was a beautiful example of a Cavalier King Charles and after comparing pedigrees we decided he would make the perfect stud dog for our Lady.
On day 11 we took Lady for her first mating, all seemed to go very well, two days later we returned again for the second mating. Time went by and soon enough we could tell that Lady was definitely growing. She went on to have a litter of 5 beautiful healthy puppies. Within hours of them being born we had already decided to keep one, that's how our second Cavalier 'Lucky' came about.
It's really grown from there for us, we have never looked back.
We would also like to say a big thank you to Lilly Shinnick who has helped us over the years, her affix name is Leelyn. Lilly has been our inspiration throughout. Incidentally our most recent additions to our line up are descended from Leelyn blood lines. If you would like to see some examples of other Leelyn Cavaliers please visit this site (click here), Lilly has supplied Leelyn Cavaliers all over the world, many have relocated to Germany, where some have made quite a name for themselves in the show ring.
We are now able to offer our own stud dogs, pictures of them can be viewed in the stud dog gallery or click here
